I bought a dress – how to style down when the dress is the statement

by Kate Greenwood 23 May 2023 0 Comments

I few weeks ago I had the opportunity to be involved in breakfast telly with Sunrise. When I got the call to be prepped and ready at 4 am (that one hurt haha) at Printhie Wines my instant thought went to – 'oh no what on earth will I wear?'

I went to the trusty girls at Cint and I got to try a bunch of beautiful pieces. I walked away with a stunning Camilla dress.

Now, while I didn’t wear this dress for morning breakfast because let’s be real – it would have been a little cold for an early morning sunrise. It did get me thinking about what accessories to wear when the dress is the statement.

Camilla are notorious for their beautiful silhouettes, patterns and intricate beading. The statement piece I chose was definitely not the ‘loudest’ Camilla there was, but it is certainly a statement. This leads me to how I would style this magnificent dress.

First things first,

Understanding what metal to choose – silver or gold plated. This dress is a mix of neutral tones with touches of green, blue and pink hues so I opted for silver.

Next, choose a simple earring, a plain metal or pearl, that will add just a touch of elegance. Remember –  you want the dress to do the talking.

For this, I chose our sterling silver hook earrings, the gold would also work beautifully. If I was to opt for pearls I would have chosen our signature pearl stud that comes in a range of sizes.

Both our sterling silver/gold plated sterling silver and freshwater pearl earring ranges are perfect if you are looking to accessorise when the dress is the statement.

But what if you want to go that extra step further?

I personally would steer clear of our medium and large-size bling and opt for small bling 107. While creating a little sparkle these studs aren’t taking away from the main event – the dress.

So there you have it, three options if you have a piece in your wardrobe that is LOUD. Remember, loud is good! knowing how to accessorise loud pieces is even better.

Until next time,

Kate xx
