How to style a blazer – the journey of finding the right blazer
A blazer – a wardrobe staple and something that can sometimes be impossible to find the right one. Whether you are looking for double breasted, tailored, slouchy, lightweight linen or regular fit, a blazer is something that is a must have as we come into the cooler months. Truly a transitional piece that is worth its weight in gold when styling up or down through autumn.
I have the privilege of working closely with our wholesale customers and as I was doom scrolling on your typical fast fashion websites for the blazer, I thought ‘why not chat to my small biz buddys and see what they have on offer’ and what a thought that was. Unsure what style and shape I was looking for, I knew I was on the track to finding the right one.
I first got chatting with the girls at The White Place in Orange, with fab brands like Alessandra, Zoe Kratzmann and Barry Made, the girls suggested I opt for a tonal colour which will go perfectly with GD freshwater pearls or if I want to pair my blazer with a GD scarf.
Next I stopped by Betty and Lola and the oh-so stylish Catriona suggested I try on Joey the Label, if I was looking for some bling to match with a pair of GD bling. Their blazers are fun, sparkly and stylish but was it what I was looking for? The search continues…
Onto my favs at Belinda’s Store who stock brands like Foemina and and Binny, the girls by the beach could see me in a linen blazer especially since I wear so much of it already. Match it with some rock bracelets and a necklace and you’ve got yourself an outfit BUT is it warm enough for the chilly Central West winter? perhaps not.
Lastly, I stopped by my local friends at Cint Boutique who love helping their customers find their own personal style – so I knew I had come to the right place. There I found it – the blazer of my dreams. The Mossman signature blazer in black which means I can wear GB bling, pearls or a scarf. I can wear it with sneakers or heels, worn casually or dress it up for a night out, winning!
A few things I've learnt while on the hunt for the perfect blazer:
1. Before you scroll and scroll online, why not reach out to a local business? They are always willing to help and have a fabulous sense of style so you’re in safe hands.
2. Think capsule – picking a transeasonal colour is perfect for laying, chopping and changing your outfits with just one statement piece.
3. Lastly, what is something that will go perfect with all your different accessories? Necklaces, bangles, scarves and earrings. A blazer ‘that goes’ with key accessory pieces is crucial.
Thank you for coming on my shopping journey with me and thanks to my small business buddies for helping me find the right blazer for me!
